Williams for Congress

Hi, I'm Andy Williams and I want to be your Congressman. Now, the first question you're probably asking yourself, is "why in the world would anyone want to be a politician?"

All I can say is that for many years I’ve taught my kids the basic maxim of put up or shut up. If you’re unhappy with the way things are, change them, otherwise stop complaining. Well, if that lesson is good enough for Michael and Alex, it’s good enough for me. I’m not happy with the way things are in the eighth district or in Washington and I intend to do something about it. I think it’s about time to send someone to Washington who isn’t just going to vote with the party leadership and tell you the things you want to hear. You want me at a town hall, I’m there. You want to yell at me, I’ll listen. It is you, the people, who will get me elected. And, it is you, the people that I will answer to.

I have served America before and I want to serve America again. We live in the single greatest country in the world and, it’s a testament to that fact that everyday, over land and over sea, people risk their lives to get here. In America, they see fantastic opportunity. They know that no matter how low you begin your life, there is no limit to the heights you can obtain. The American dream is alive, but it’s under assault.

We don’t send people to Congress to take our money and our decisions with them. We elect them to take as little of our money and as few of our decisions as is necessary for our government to operate efficiently. It makes me really angry that our money keeps leaving this state faster than we can take it back. Right now, today, forty-seven other states are more successful than Wisconsin in getting their money back from the Federal Government. In the meantime, our current congressman only seems to want his picture in the paper rather than do the good that needs to get done. It’s as if he doesn’t see the bait and switch his party leaders are pulling on him. I don’t think he’s even aware of the little he’s done for the district.

For instance, go to his website. There, he mentions all he's done for eighth district. He even has this cool interactive map where you can click on a county and read his accomplishments. However, you'll notice there are a couple of counties not even on the map. Langlade, Calumet, I’ll never forget about you guys. How do you forget a part of your district?

These are the reasons why I'm running for Congress. I may not be a "typical" politician. But isn't that what we need? Wouldn't you rather have your congressman be approachable than not? Call me.  Let's grab a beer and talk about the issues you care about.

Where Andy Stands on the Issues

Andy on the Issue of Taxes

What’s the cost of being an American? We know first-hand that it’s the amount of money collected from our salaries and added to our purchases. We know it’s also added at the pump and in heating our homes. We see it in fees for fishing on a ...

Andy on the Issue of Healthcare

Ronald Reagan once said, “government is never more dangerous than when our desire to have it help us blinds us to its great power to harm us.”  In the Healthcare forum, this should be more than a warning, it should be a guiding principle.  Our government is not, and should ...
